For those looking to add to their all-out E30 M20 builds we offer a billet thermostat housing solution. This part is designed to replace the factory cast thermostat housing on builds where AN hoses are being used throughout the cooling system. The three main ports feature -20 ORB threads where adapters for hose barbs, hose ends or wiggins clamps can be utilized. Factory coolant sensors and gauge sensors can be implemented as necessary – the M14x1.5 and M12x1.5 ports have been retained on the main runner of the housing. On the housing body an auxiliary -8 ORB port exists to emulate the factory provision which is plumbed to the expansion tank and back of the cylinder head. These housings use the standard 67mm thermostat.
Optional fittings are available which adapt the -20 ORB ports to factory sized hose barbs. Note that port positions are very close to the factory housing but are not exact. Factory coolant hoses may need trimmed or adjusted to fit adequately. Original throttle body heater and heater core plumbing will not work interchangeably with this thermostat housing – customers must plumb this themselves to retain these features.
These two-piece housings are CNC machined from solid 6061-T6 and anodized. Stainless hardware is included for the thermostat cap. A stainless bleed screw and copper crush washer are utilized in the thermostat cap.
The housing does NOT include a thermostat. Raw billet housings can be provided but are not suggested as coolant mixtures will quickly corrode the raw aluminum – please contact us to order un-anodized units. We are not responsible for any damage caused by improperly plumbed cooling systems.
